We maintain a comprehensive suite of advanced analytical instruments to support diverse research and industrial applications in chemistry and materials science. Our facility includes multiple liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) systems (triple-quadrupole and high-resolution), gas chromatography (GC) systems (with MS and FID detection), gel permeation/size-exclusion chromatography (GPC/SEC) systems with multi-detector capability, as well as thermal analyzers (DSC, TGA), FTIR spectrometers, and a 500 MHz NMR. Thermo TSQ Quantum Max (Triple Quadrupole LC-MS)
The TSQ Quantum Max is a triple-quadrupole LC-MS/MS system providing outstanding sensitivity and specificity for targeted analyses. It is designed for routine quantitation of small molecules (e.g. pharmaceuticals, metabolites) and offers flexible operation for complex matrices. This system delivers excellent analytical flexibility and performance at high uptime, making it ideal for academic and industrial bioanalytical labs.

Thermo TSQ Quantiva (Triple Quadrupole LC-MS)
The TSQ Quantiva is a high-end triple-quadrupole LC-MS that employs Active Ion Management (AIM™) technology to optimize ion transmission. It delivers “superb sensitivity, speed, and dynamic range” for quantitative work, enabling very low limits of detection. Its rugged design and simplified workflow allow fast, reproducible quantitation of trace analytes (e.g. peptides, biomarkers) in complex samples. Quantiva’s robustness and ease of use (with advanced software support) make it well-suited to demanding clinical, environmental, and food-testing applications.

Thermo Q Exactive Plus (Hybrid Quadrupole-Orbitrap HRMS)
The Thermo Scientific Q Exactive Plus is a high-resolution quadrupole–Orbitrap mass spectrometer (HRMS) that combines fast scanning with accurate mass measurement. It introduced “Quanfirmation” capability to enable confident quantitation and identification in a single run. With resolving power up to ~140,000 FWHM and sub-ppm mass accuracy, it captures full-scan, high-definition MS data (in MS or MS/MS modes) for retrospective data analysis. This makes the Q Exactive Plus ideal for comprehensive profiling in proteomics, metabolomics, pharmaceutical and biotechnological research.

SCIEX QTRAP 6500 (Triple Quadrupole LC-MS/MS)
The SCIEX QTRAP 6500 is a triple-quadrupole/linear-ion-trap MS system enhanced by patented IonDrive™ technology. This multi-component design boosts ion production and transmission efficiency, yielding exceptional sensitivity and performance. It excels in trace-level quantitative LC-MS/MS, enabling robust quantitation of low-abundance compounds. The QTRAP 6500 is widely used for pharmacokinetics, environmental analysis, and toxicology studies, where its high signal intensity and dynamic range improve detection of challenging analytes

SCIEX TripleTOF 6600 (HRMS)
The SCIEX TripleTOF 6600+ is a high-resolution time-of-flight (TOF) MS system optimized for large-scale quantitative analyses. It offers fast MS/MS acquisition (up to 100 Hz scan speed) and advanced low-flow ionization (OptiFlow sources) to achieve highly sensitive, robust quantitation. The instrument’s SWATH® data-independent acquisition captures comprehensive MS/MS data for all detectable ions, enabling rich qualitative and quantitative information from complex samples. Combined with intelligent ion optics and reliable operation, the 6600+ unlocks high-throughput proteomics, metabolomics, and other omics workflows.

SCIEX 4000 QTRAP (Triple Quadrupole LC-MS/MS)
The SCIEX 4000 QTRAP is a legacy hybrid triple-quadrupole/linear-ion-trap MS. Its quadrupole-as-ion-trap design increases ion capacity and improves trapping efficiency, greatly enhancing sensitivity and duty cycle. This hybrid architecture enables the instrument to perform both quantitative (MRM) and qualitative (enhanced product ion) scans in one run. Though discontinued, the 4000 QTRAP remains useful for robust bioanalytical and small-molecule screening applications, offering proven performance for drug discovery and metabolite identification.

Agilent 1260 Infinity HPLC System (LC)
The Agilent 1260 Infinity (I) is a versatile high-performance liquid chromatography system for general analytical LC. It features a quaternary pump (0–600 bar) with four-solvent mixing, supporting isocratic or gradient analyses for multi-method workflows. The system delivers precise solvent handling and reliable operation. A low-carryover autosampler and thermostatted column compartment ensure reproducible injections and retention times. Overall, the 1260 Infinity is ideal for high-throughput routine HPLC, method development, and purification tasks

Thermo GC-MS ISQ 7610 (GC-MS with FID)
The Thermo ISQ 7610 is a benchtop single-quadrupole GC-MS system. It is engineered for high uptime and ease of use, featuring automated workflows and long-life source components. Its NeverVent™ technology allows source maintenance (e.g. filament change) without interrupting vacuum, minimizing downtime. The ISQ 7610 delivers extended dynamic range and consistent results for routine GC-MS analyses. In our lab, it is equipped with both MS and flame ionization (FID) detectors on the Thermo Trace 1310 GC, covering a wide range of volatile/semi-volatile compounds. Its robust design and user-friendly software ensure reliable performance for environmental, petrochemical, and forensic analyses.

Thermo UltiMate 3000 Preparative HPLC (with Fraction Collector)
The Thermo Scientific UltiMate 3000 is a semi-preparative HPLC system used for compound purification. It is based on high-pressure gradient pumping (e.g. SmartFlow™, 0.5–50 mL/min) and a 25-position autosampler. The system is tailored for robust, high-performance purification, enabling isolation of microgram-to-milligram quantities with accurate gradient control. The large-volume autosampler and fraction collector automate sample injections and collection of eluents. This setup is ideal for preparative separations in natural products and synthetic chemistry, where efficient purification of target molecules is required.

Agilent 8890 GC (GC-FID and GC-MS)
The Agilent 8890 is a state-of-the-art gas chromatograph known for precise retention time reproducibility (advanced electronic pneumatic controls and oven). It provides fast, accurate separations in a flexible configuration. Our 8890 is set up with both FID and a single-quadrupole MS detector, supporting simultaneous detection of a broad range of analytes. It can accommodate two inlets and four detectors, and uses Agilent’s in-oven Capillary Flow Technology for reliable, leak-free connections. This GC is used for environmental, food, and petrochemical analyses, offering high throughput and remote monitoring capabilities.

Agilent 1260 Infinity II GPC/SEC System (Multi-Detector)
The Agilent 1260 Infinity II GPC/SEC system is a size-exclusion chromatography platform equipped with multi-detector capabilities. It supports up to triple detection (e.g. refractive index, light scattering, viscometer) to determine absolute molecular weights and polymer sizes without calibration. Each detector is independently temperature-controlled, ensuring high precision and reproducibility in polymer characterization. This system is well-suited for analyzing synthetic and natural polymers, biopolymers, and macromolecules across a wide molecular weight range

Malvern OMNISEC GPC/SEC System (Multi-Detector)
The Malvern OMNISEC is an integrated, high-end multi-detector GPC/SEC system for polymer and protein characterization. It combines an advanced separations module (RESOLVE) with a detector module (REVEAL) that typically includes refractive index, multi-angle light scattering, UV/Vis, and viscometry detectors. As a “top-of-the-range” system, OMNISEC provides a complete solution for absolute molecular weight and structure analysis. All components work seamlessly together, controlled by a unified software suite, enabling sensitive, high-precision measurements of polymers, polysaccharides, and biopolymers across research and quality-control applications

TA Instruments DSC Q100 (Differential Scanning Calorimeter)
The TA Q100 is a research-grade DSC featuring TA’s patented Tzero™ technology. It offers high sensitivity and accuracy for measuring thermal transitions (glass transitions, melting, crystallization). With upgradable options (autosampler, modulated DSC, etc.), the Q100 outperforms many competitive models. Its innovative design and ease of use (intuitive software, reliable baseline) make it ideal for detailed thermal analysis of polymers, pharmaceuticals, and composites.

TA Instruments Discovery TGA 550 (Thermogravimetric Analyzer)
The TA Discovery TGA 550 is a high-performance thermogravimetric analyzer. It uses TA’s Tru-Mass™ balance for very high precision and can be configured with advanced features (Hi-Res TGA, modulated TGA, DTA signal) and a 25-position autosampler. The TGA 550 offers excellent temperature control (–180 to 1000 °C) and sensitivity, making it suitable for detailed decomposition studies in materials and polymer research. Its performance and flexibility are ideal for demanding thermal analysis in research and multi-user labs.

PerkinElmer Spectrum Two FT-IR Spectrometer
The PerkinElmer Spectrum Two is a compact, rugged FT-IR spectrometer designed for ease of use and portability. It features a fully integrated universal sampling accessory (single reflection ATR) for quick, trouble-free measurements in the lab or field. Despite its small footprint, it delivers reliable performance (high S/N detectors) for routine material identification and QC. This instrument is used for fast IR analysis of polymers, pharmaceuticals, and environmental samples

Thermo Nicolet iS5 FT-IR Spectrometer
The Thermo Nicolet iS5 is a premium mid-IR spectrometer in a small, robust package. It integrates high-performance optics in a sealed, desiccated housing to withstand humidity and reduce maintenance. This compact FTIR offers superior optical throughput and user-replaceable components for low servicing. It is ideally suited to production labs and teaching facilities for routine IR spectroscopy (quality control, material ID) where space and durability are important.

Bruker Avance III 500 MHz NMR Spectrometer
The Bruker Avance III 500 MHz is a high-field NMR system for solution-state structural elucidation. As part of Bruker’s flagship Avance series (300–1200 MHz), it delivers exceptional sensitivity and resolution. The Avance electronics and superconducting magnet enable broadband multinuclear experiments (¹H, ¹³C, ¹⁹F, ³¹P, etc.) and advanced pulse sequences. With a wide array of probes (including cryogenically cooled options) and automation, the 500 MHz spectrometer supports detailed molecular analysis in chemistry and biochemistry, from small molecules to large biomolecules.
